Given the large number of books that were likely to come out for the
centenary, at least one would have to have the title ‘The Official Authorised
History of Isle of Man Tourist Trophy Racing’ and this is it!
In fairness it is written by well known classic bike journalist Mick Duckworth
who was born and bred in the Isle of Man and has been watching the racing since
his childhood and it is published by Lilly Publications, an IOM publishing
company. It also comes with set of stamps from the IOM Post Office as part of
the pages, which also include the odd advert.
The hardback book is one of the biggest TT books on the market and probably
is the most colourful of all thanks to the fact it majors more on the second
half of the centenary and therefore can use more colour plates. Mick has also
come up with some slightly different features which make it stand out and be
more than just a historical tome.
The coffee table approach and the very modern and appealing layout make this
book easily justify the official seal of approval and also the £25.00 price tag.
A definite must for the bookshelf. ISBN 1 899602 67 4
