Classic Motorcycling – A Guide for the 21st Century
You might think from the title tat this is just another book cashing in on the current heavy interest in classic motorcycling- or the prices! However, this 275 page soft-back written by Rex Bunn, takes and entirely different approach to some of the previous and current books of a similar ilk.
Maybe it is because the author lives in Australia and lots of Antipodean ideas and examples are used, but he has certainly comprehensively covered all areas of the Classic bike scene from clothing to security as well as the bikes themselves. There are some interesting tables and thought process’s explained that I have not seen anywhere else, along with a healthy dose of realism throughout the book.
If you want a book about concours bikes that sit in living rooms to be admired as works of art then this is not perhaps the book for you. Or maybe it is and you should read it before you consign a piece of working machinery to such a sad fate!
But, if that is your choice, then Bunn has the ‘Bonnie Index’ to allow you to predict price rises over the next few years and maybe give you a warm glow.
But, in the main this is a book for those who want to buy and more importantly ride, a classic and even the most knowledgeable reader will gain something new from the 280 glossy, well illustrated pages.
