Tuesday, 07 February 2012 11:38 |

The inaugural Southern Africa Expedition starts in Nairobi on 16 September 2012 and after visiting the Serengeti National Park, Mount Kilimanjaro, Victoria Falls, Nkhotakota Game Reserve, The Historic town of Livingstone and The Giants Playground, it rolls into Cape Town five weeks later on 17 October.
There is so much to see and experience on this trip and yet in true GlobeBusters style there is plenty of time to enjoy the great roads and fantastic riding.
This incredible action packed expedition may be our first in Southern Africa with clients but it will be a welcome return for the crew. Both Richard and Jeff have ridden in Africa before. Jeff has completed a year long Trans Continental Ride ending in Cape Town which was when he fell in love with the continent and its peoples. Richard first rode in South Africa in 2004 and most recently has been back as part of the Discover Our Earth Expedition in 2010. "We are both really looking forward to getting back to Africa and sharing the incredible experiences that the continent has to offer" said Richard.
Full details of this ride can be found here including a detailed itinerary, all the highlights and pricing.
We must close this expedition to new bookings on 1st March 2012, to allow time to get all the logistics and detailed preparation in place. So if you want to join us you will need to be quick. Don't miss out - the next Southern Africa Expedition is not until 2014!

Suzuki announce joint venture with UK Company |
|
|
Wednesday, 08 February 2012 10:14 |
Suzuki Motor Corporation is to establish a joint venture company, SMILE FC System Corporation (SMILE FC), for developing and manufacturing fuel cell systems with Intelligent Energy Holdings PLC (IEH) of UK, a company which retains an affiliate company, Intelligent Energy Ltd. (IE), that developed the fuel cell system.
Suzuki and IE have been developing fuel cell vehicles and exhibiting co-developed motorcycles equipped with an air-cooled fuel cell system at the 2007, 2009 and 2011 Tokyo Motor Show, and earning Whole Vehicle Type Approval in March 2011 for a Burgman Fuel Cell Scooter, the world's first fuel cell vehicle to earn it.
Suzuki will establish a joint venture company, SMILE FC, in February 2012, for developing and manufacturing a fuel cell system with IEH, and commercialize a product by combining the fuel cell development technology of IE, and control and the mass-production technologies of Suzuki.
The investment rates for SMILE FC will be 50% for both companies. The headquarters will be located within Suzuki headquarters in Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, and its research facility will be located at Suzuki's Yokohama Laboratory.
Starting with the air-cooled fuel cell system, which can be characterized for its light weight, compact size, and potential for cost reduction, Suzuki and IE, with SMILE FC at the core, will work on developing mass-production technology and manufacturing of fuel cells, as well as exploiting the global supply chain of fuel cell parts, and familiarizing the fuel cell vehicles.

The History of the TT by Duke Marketing |
|
|
Friday, 11 November 2011 10:00 |
Only Duke Marketing could get away with a title such as this and not open themselves up to criticism, because you just know they have the archive and footage to pull off a programme that really is a history of over 100 years of racing.
Previously marketed when video was the accepted medium, they have totally revamped the three-tape programme and brought it bang up to date with this two disc set that finishes with 2010 record breaking TT. (Also included is ‘Sounds of the TT 1957 -1968’ which has more than 70 bikes on ‘full song’ at the TT!) It really is the most comprehensive story of the world-famous Isle of Man TT starting at the beginning in 1907.
The full legend of the TT is explored with archive footage, modern racing action, interviews and much more to deliver not only the history, but also the electric atmosphere of the world's greatest road race.
Literally thousands of hours of film and tape have been gone through to compile this edition, which includes a tribute to 26 times winner Joey Dunlop. The second disc also shows the Centenary of the TT in 2007, including the stunning 130mph-plus lap by John McGuinness, and the 2010 TT, when Ian Hutchinson re-wrote the event's history by taking storming victories in every solo race.
Obviously it is must have for TT fans, but even those who have never been will enjoy the four and three quarter hours of island racing and maybe see why the TT is so unique and has such a loyal following.
What else can I say other than the quality is as high as ever and you get real value for money at £19.99. Ref:-DMDVD1759N

Splitlath Redmond Racing sign Laverty and french young gun Marino |
|
|
Monday, 06 February 2012 10:23 |
The Splitlath Redmond Racing team have today (Sunday) confirmed their 2012 line up ahead of the forthcoming MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship season as John Laverty returns from injury and he is joined by former World Supersport contender Florian Marino.
John Dimbylow and former Olympic athlete Derek Redmond joined forces to become co-owners of the team and they unveiled their new line up at the MCN Motorcycle Show in London today (Sunday) as Laverty joined Marino on stage.
Laverty returns to racing this season after recovering from injuries sustained in a crash last season and is now eager to ride again after previously winning the British Superbike Cup and just missing out on the Showdown in 2010.
Laverty said: “It feels great to have the chance to be back in BSB this season, as I didn’t know if it would be possible but the team have given me the opportunity and here I am. It has been a long recovery but I am taking everything one step at a time. I need to be consistent and just build up again as I haven’t ridden since last year. There is no pressure on me and I am looking forward to working with such an experienced crew. I am just looking forward to being back in BSB and racing again. I need to thank everyone who has helped me to get to this point and the team for the faith they are showing in me.”
Marino joins the team after racing for the Ten Kate team in the World Supersport Championship last season and finished runner up in the European Superstock Championship the year before. He will make his Superbike debut with the team and the 18-year-old is keen to make an impression.
Marino said: “I am looking forward to racing in BSB; it is a championship where you need to fight hard and that is what I like. I am going to learn the new circuits but I am excited. I am happy as there are very good riders in BSB who have also raced in the World Championship like Josh Brookes for example and there are may fast riders too. I am focused and looking forward to the new season.”
Laverty and Marino will be joining an experienced team as Tom Larson joins the team, the former HM Plant Honda and BMW World Superbike crew chief will be joined by Mark ‘Brains’ Woodage who has also worked on the world stage with the PTR Honda team.
Redmond said: “Since retiring from athletics motorcycle racing is the first thing that has given me the same adrenaline buzz. We are really looking forward to this season and building up consistently as this isn’t just a one year plan for the team, we are looking long term and we are excited about the future.”
Dimbylow concluded: “This is a busy time for the team and we are delighted to have signed John and Florian. We now have a very experienced crew working with us and John obviously has a lot of knowledge and we are looking forward to seeing him back on a race bike again. Florian is a young rider who we feel has a lot of potential so we are hoping for our strongest season to date in 2012.”
