Musicians, actors, writers, singers and other celebrities have been attracted to the fun and thrills of riding bikes and scooters. There is a surprising list of famous people, past and present who have joined the club……….. James Dean Famous actor, James Dean was bought his first motorcycle a 1947 Czech Whizzer, by his uncle Marcus. His other motorcycles included a Harley-Davidson, a Norton 500, an Indian 500, an Italian scooter and a Triumph T110 . Buddy Holly Musician, Buddy was a motorcyclist. In 1958, Buddy and his Crickets went to buy a selection of bikes. Buddy picked an Ariel Cyclone and he also owned a Triumph during his lifetime Brad Pitt Hollywood actor, now married to actress Angelina Jolie, is a bike enthusiast and enjoys riding a range of bikes from scooters to cruisers and everything in between. Roald Dahl A respected author of children's books and known for the stories in the TV series Tales of the Unexpected, Dahl survived a series of hair-raising battles as a Hurricane pilot during WW2. He mentions his motorcycle experiences in his books Boy and Going Solo. Lawrence of Arabia (T.E. Lawrence)- Best known for his extraordinary feats in the Arabian Desert during WW1, Lawrence was an ardent motorcyclist. His eighth Brough Superior was awaiting delivery when he was killed riding its predecessor, George VII. George Orwell The author wrote many famous books including George Orwell Animal Farm and 1984. While working on 1984 he regularly used a Royal Enfield 350. Elvis Presley He was known to have a Harley or two, and photographs of this legendary music icon riding his Harleys are just as popular as the Easy Rider photograph. Jay Leno Popular late night television talk show host - has a huge collection of motorcycles. He often rides an old Vincent (or brand new M.V. Agusta) to a roadhouse in the hills above Malibu. Dick Emery Comedy actor Dick Emery was a keen motorcyclist. He had several bikes, including one of the first Honda CB750's Angelina Jolie Hollywood star, who met her actor husband on the set of the film Mr & Mrs Smith is also a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador who enjoys riding bikes and is often seen out riding with her husband, Sheryl Crowe American singer and song-writer enjoys performing on stage and on track. Known for her love of off-road riding she owns and uses a KTM Lauren Hutton The model and actress who has been making films since 1968 enjoys riding with some of her Hollywood celebrity friends. Cameron Diaz The star of the Charlie’s Angels films enjoys surfing and is known to ride a scooter Queen Latifah The stage name for an African American woman who is a well known hip-hop/rap musician and actress in the U.S.A. Sports bikes are one of her passions. She says they provide an escape from the pressures of celebrity. Other celebrity riders include; John Travolta, Tom Cruise, Arnold Schwarznegger. Bob Dylan, Suzi Perry, Liam Neeson, Mary Anne Hobbs, Nancy Sinatra, Prince William and Harry, Steven King and Sting.
