Many motorcyclists strive for that ever-elusive dream machine, the pinnacle of a biker’s hobby. Although they may never reach this two-wheeled nirvana, they may still bask in the shadow of their fictional heroes. Here we present the best motorcycles that cinema has to offer. #5: Hagrid’s Flying Triumph (Harry Potter) A normal looking motorbike by any means, any bystander would think that there was nothing particularly special about this Triumph Bonneville T120, but anyone who has seen the movies will know that half giant Rubeus Hagrid uses this flying bike to burn rubber across the sky. The flying bike used in the Deathly Hallows movie was a Royal Enfield with a Watsonian sidecar. #4: Arcee (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen) The second instalment of Michael Bay’s explosion-fest saw the inclusion of the hot pink Ducati 848, which transformed into the lady-robot Arcee. As she transforms from a motorcycle, Arcee is more nimble and agile that her car-based counterparts. Apparently, director Michael Bay didn’t like the character, so he gave her as little screen time as possible. #3: Light Cycle (Tron: Legacy) The light cycles are the ultimate in science-fiction motoring. In the computer generated world called the Grid, these cycles are used in contests between humans and computer programs, creating an impenetrable wall of light behind them. Hit the wall, the cycle is destroyed and you are out of the game. It’s just a shame that the Light Cycles were completely computer generated (but in a movie set in a virtual world, what else would you expect?). #2: Hell Cycle (Ghost Rider) The ride of choice for character Johnny Blaze is a motorcycle called “Grace”, a custom hard-tail chopper. When Blaze transforms into the Ghost Rider, the bike turns into the Hellcycle: a demonic combination of steel, bone and fire. When transformed, the Hellcycle can ride up vertical surfaces, glide over water and leap massive distances, and its wheels are made of pure Hellfire. #1: Batpod (The Dark Knight) The various incarnations of Batman’s motorcycle haven’t always looked their best, but the latest instalment of the franchise sees a motorcycle that is made from and detaches from the front end of a car (Batman’s “Tumbler”). The Batpod is low, nimble and agile, and also has front-mounted machine guns, cannons and a grappling hook. It is a motorcycle as useful and as varied as Batman’s utility belt.
