Peugeot Vivacity 125 scooterUK commuters travel on average 8.7 miles each day*, but with escalating fuel costs and rising public transport fares, (as well as issues with parking restrictions for motorists and over-crowding on buses and trains), it's no wonder that nearly ½ million Britons choose to travel by scooter.
Delivering excellent fuel economy, unaffected by traffic jams and benefiting from free parking, scooters are a cost-effective solution to urban mobility and Peugeot's September deal, offering £200 off the price of a new Vivacity, will tempt more hard pressed commuters onto two wheels.
At 690mm wide, the Vivacity can filter through city traffic with ease and squeeze into the tightest parking spots. It combines an easily accessible flat foot well, with low seat height (790mm) and generous leg room, making it comfortable for riders of all sizes.
Hydraulic front forks and twin rear shock absorbers ensure a smooth and comfortable ride while the 12" alloy wheels with sports profile tyres provide sure-footed handling. Stopping power is delivered by a large dual piston caliper disc brake up front and progressive rear drum brake.
With generous 22-litre storage bay beneath the seat and a 13-litre compartment in the front there is plenty of carrying capacity, supplemented by a bag hook in the foot well, and Peugeot thoughtfully included a 12v power output for charging accessories on the move.
Available with a choice of a nippy 50cc 2-stroke engine or a torquey 125cc 4-stroke motor, both models have twist and go transmission that makes them quick off the mark and are capable of returning approximately 80mpg.
Peugeot's discount voucher (available online at http://www.peugeotscooters.co.uk/vivacity-200-discount.html) reduces the price of the 50cc Vivacity 2T to £1399** and the Vivacity 125cc model to£1799; both are covered by a 24-month warranty. Alternatively call 01202 823344.
* UK commuters face the second longest average daily commute in Europe: in many cases adding an entire working day each week. The average daily commute takes on average a total of 54 minutes. (Work Wise UK, the Government-backed not-for-profit campaigning body)
