Happy holidays as american hotshot PJ Jacobsen signs for Tyco Suzuki
|Friday, 23 November 2012 15:48|
New Yorker PJ Jacobsen will have a double cause for celebration today (Thursday) as millions of Americans celebrate Thanksgiving after the 19-year-old was confirmed as completing the line-up at Tyco Suzuki for the 2013 MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship.
Jacobsen landed in the British paddock in 2012 and instantly made an impression on the Tyco Suzuki following success in the USA, including podium finishes in the AMA SportBike Championship and a title win in the AMA Pro Road Race 125cc class.
He debuted in the National Superstock 1000 class, scoring a hat trick of podium finishes in the final three rounds, including an incredible win at Donington Park by just 0.001 seconds. The American again showed his calibre with a victory in his debut appearance in the Motorpoint British Supersport class at Assen and now the Northern Irish team have promoted him to the premier class alongside Josh Brookes.
Jacobsen said: “It’s a dream come true to ride for Tyco Suzuki in BSB and especially to announce it today. The team gave me an opportunity in British Superstock and Supersport and put my career on the map. I just can’t wait to get out there now and test the Superbike, and I know my team-mate Josh will help me a lot. The championship is one of the best in the world; the riders are always battling and that is cool, I am looking forward to being a part of it. I’d like to thank team boss Philip Neill and Phil Dashey from Tyco for their support.”
Team Manager Philip Neill concluded: “After agreeing terms with Josh during September it feels like it has taken a long time to finalise our British Superbike line-up. However now that it’s done I am really looking forward to next season with a very exciting line up. PJ has been groomed as a motorcycle racer from a very young age and his unique all American style of enjoying a bike sliding underneath him will be a major factor in his future success in the superbike category.”
