The tenth round of the Superbike World Championship concluded today in Silverstone, with very unsettled weather and mixed conditions throughout the day. In race one David Salom and David Johnson started from the sixth row of the grid on a dry track surface despite some dark clouds. During the first lap it started to rain and unfortunately Johnson crashed. In another curve there was another crash and the race was red flagged because bikes remained on the track. Unfortunately Johnson suffered a dislocation of his left collarbone and did not join the restarted race. Salom’s second start was not particularly fast but thanks to a good race pace the Spanish rider was able to reach the points zone, ending in fifteenth position. Race two started on a wet track. After a good start Salom was lying in sixteenth place but after only a few laps he was forced to reenter the box due to a technical problem.Superbike – Race one : 1) Baz (Kawasaki) – 2) Fabrizio (BMW) – 3) Badovini (BMW) - 4) Rea (Honda) – 5) Checa (Ducati) …… 15) Salom (Kawasaki) – ns) Johnson (Kawasaki) Superbike – Race two : 1) Guintioli (Ducati) - 2) Baz (Kawasaki) – 3) Smrz (Ducati) - 4) Laverty (Aprilia) – 5) Berger (Ducati) – 6) Checa (Ducati)…….. ret) Salom (Kawasaki) David Salom: “In race one I found a good rhythm and I fought for the points zone for many laps, obtaining fifteenth position and taking one point for the championship standings. In race two my start was not so bad but after a few laps I heard some noises coming from the engine and I preferred to re-enter the box to avoid causing further damage to my bike’s engine. Considering all of the problems we had during qualifying, I’m satisfied with my the result of race one and I hope to collect more points in the next races in Moscow”.
