Jorge Lorenzo - My Story So Far by Ernest Riveras Tobia

JOrge Lorenzo - My Story So FarOnce upon a time nobody wrote their memoirs until either they were old or they retired from the chosen sport of field as they did not have much to say until then. Well as he continues to prove on the track, Jorge has plenty to say and has crammed a lot into his 21 years as this 320 page hardback book proves.

Originally written in Spanish in collaboration with Ernest Riveras Tobia, it has been translated into English by BBC Moto GP reporter Matt Roberts (who has a degree in Spanish) for Haynes the publishers. Spanish reviewers described it as a ‘psycho-analysis more than a biography’ but I feel that is really dependent on how you interpret what is said.

There is certainly no doubt that he tells it straight and pulls no punches and leaves no stone unturned as he talks about the emotions, conflicts and tensions at the heart of top-level motorcycle racing. He is also brutally honest about his own journey to the top of his sport and as team-mate to the great Valentino Rossi.

His rise through the ranks has been sensational and started when he became the youngest rider ever to compete in a 125cc Grand Prix. He again made history when he won his first Moto GP race in 2008.

Add in a couple of 250 World Titles by the age of 21, public splits with his father and then manager, rifts with fellow countryman Danni Pedrosa and you have enough for an epic film, let alone a book.

This is definitely a book to read to help understand what is going on between him and Rossi, not mention everyone else both on and off the track told by a man who could possibly be a future World Champion.

Good value and must read for all Moto GP fans no matter who you support because of the above at £18.99. ISBN 9781844257027
