VESPA - The Complete History from 1946This magnificent hardback coffee table sized book by Giorgio Sarti was first published in 2006 to celebrate Vespa’s then 60th anniversary. It literally covers the whole history of the Vespa scooter, from its debut to the present day.

As the book shows apart from maybe Enrico Piaggio, nobody could have known that this revolutionary vehicle, would leave an indelible mark on the history of transport and become a real cultural phenomenon to successive generations.
The book is split into chapters, the first covering the origins and development throughout the decades, which is followed by another chapter on the road to success, again through the decades. It then goes onto the Vespa family by moving through the various countries and continents, before highlighting some of the excellent promotional material that has appeared.

Finally touring and racing, the Vespa Club and museum are covered before it ends with a systematic cataloguing of all the models that have appeared in the 65 years, each one accompanied by a detailed technical specification.
Apart from detailed technical details on engines, suspension etc. there is nothing else you could need to know about Vespa. Certainly there is enough information to accurately identify any machine you may have. (Frame and brief technical details are included along with excellent studio shots.)

Although obviously aimed at the aficionado, it makes a good read and useful reference work on the marque and given its wealth of information, along with the quality of presentation it is easily worth the £39.95 asking price. It definitely looks good on the coffee table for visitors to pick up and flick through!
