The first World Superbike Meeting DVD by Duke Marketing

The first World Superbike Meeting DVDNostalgia is great especially when you can actually watch history being made, something Duke Marketing has known for a long time. As the premier motorsport company they continue to record events as they happen, so they have a record of all modern events, using all the latest camera and electronic aids to produce some epic productions.

However, they are not afraid to delve into the past and produce programmes that capture the events as they were recorded, albeit in fairly unsophisticated format compared to the modern day.

Just over two decades ago, England’s famous Donington Park circuit was the venue for an historic and thrilling race meeting – the first ever World Superbike Championship round. As Duke quite rightly point out this was the beginning of a series which today is one of the most prestigious championships in the world.

If you missed that rainy April day meeting, or even if you were there, you can no relive it on this DVD that shows extensive highlights of this 30 lap two race historic meeting, never previously available on DVD.

Not only was this history in the making, it was also a scintillating race meeting which saw a battle to the very last lap for honours. Some of those racing for honours are better known as race managers or TT wins, but at that time they were just racers pure and simple.

Among them were former 500cc World Champion Marco Lucchinelli, Isle of Man TT legend Joey Dunlop, 250cc Grand Prix racer Davide Tardozzi and many more, including Roger Burnett, Fred Merkel, Roger Marshall, Stephane Mertens and Bubba Shobert.

Despite the age of the footage and the fact that since there have been many nail biting finishes since, this DVD shows that even then each leg produced edge-of-the-seat racing, with passes, crashes and there was even last lap drama as Tardozzi and Lucchinelli put on a spectacular show.

With the two race results counting towards an overall winner, for the only time in World Superbike history, it all came down to the final lap – and an unbelievably tense finale!

This latest from Duke is definitely one to watch for every racing fan.
Very reasonably priced at £15.65 it is available from leading video outlets or direct from Duke Video Ref DVD 1670: www.dukevideo.com
