Sidecar Stars by Duke MarketingThis latest CD from Duke Marketing continues to use modern technology to bring back some of the great masters from the past. Sidecar Stars was originally released on vinyl as an LP called ‘The Chairmen’, it was part of the Stanley Schofield Sound Stories collection, which they have gradually been re-releasing on CD having been digitally remastered.

It goes without saying that motorcycle racing has produced many sensational superstars, although frequently overlooked are the sidecar crews who are in fact some of the most spectacular performers. On this latest CD, quite rightly, tribute is paid to the extraordinary

bravery and ingenuity of the stars of sidecar racing.

It is also an examination of why people choose three wheels over two, what it takes to become a passenger, why the ‘poor relations’ of road racing has a greater sense of community than seen in the solo paddock and so on.

Unlike the Murray or Graham Walker ‘records’ that we have seen over the past few years, another great voice from the past, Peter Arnold supplies the commentary and conducts interviews. These take place with some of the sidecar greats, including the legendary Eric Oliver, veteran Bill Boddice, World Champion Helmut Fath and passenger Eric Bliss to name but a few.

Apart from the interviews it is the stunning ‘music’ supplied by the evocative exhaust notes of some of the most iconic sidecar outfits in racing history which really makes this one to add to the motorcycle CD collection.

Listen to Freddie Dixon’s 1923 TT-winning machine, the fabulous works BMWs, the exotic water-cooled twin of Harry Langman, the Imp of Ray Pollard, the controversial Mini special, plus many sounds from BSA, Triumph, Matchless and many more as they hurtle around making the hairs on your neck rise as the memories come flooding back

Sidecar Starsis a must have in the collection and once again Duke are to be complemented on making these evocative sounds available for modern sound equipment. Ref DMCD9955
