It was very timely when we received a 400 ml can of the SDoc 100 Textile waterproofer from Motohaus Powersports the UK distributors of SDoc 100 products in the UK, as I was to embark on a 16 day motorcycle tour. Long distance tour riding in all weathers really tests the waterproof properties’ of your biking gear and unfortunately this can diminish with time. Gloves boots, jackets and trousers that were once waterproof can let you down and spending hours riding in wet gear can be a drag!
Application of the product proved really simple. You just shake the aerosol can and spray the product evenly on to the textile to be waterproofed; in this case my textile motorcycle gloves. You need to apply it from approximately 20cm way and don’t soak the material and then allow to dry in a shaded place, it’s a clean, no mess process. I found the product has a very strong but not unpleasant smell. The product must be applied in a well ventilated area. (Full application instructions are on the aerosol). So mid way through our trip the inevitable happened it rained continuously for several hours and the threat of cold wet hands loomed, but no, the SDoc 100 Textile waterproofer did what is said on the can “Superior Wet Protection”. My hands stayed dry, the gloves didn’t let any water in and they were waterproof. Apparently the waterproofing abilities of this product are long lasting too, so my gloves shouldn’t need a reapplication for some time. So it’s as simple as that, SDoc 100 textile proofer, waterproofs textiles (e.g. boots, jackets, pants, boots, backpack, tankbag, gloves, tent, leisure and rain clothes) and as such will now be an invaluable addition to my stock of motorcycling products. In addition it has other benefits it protects against sun bleaching by UV rays and but it can also be used on functional materials and climate membranes such as SympaTex or Gore-Tex. Apparently the product preserves the breathability of these specialist fabrics. This is where SDoc 100’s textile waterproofer proves its worth. I had a pair of textile gloves which I new had let me down on the last couple of rides in the rain and I needed them to stay waterproof for the duration of a days ride.
