Forcefield Pro Sub 4 Back ProtectorForcefield has gradually worked its way to the top of the protection game with a range of innovative products that combine comfort and practicality with rider protection. I must admit the cupboard is pretty full of their products to allow me to ride all types of bike safe in the knowledge that should I part company with the bike I stand a good chance of getting away with nothing more than a few bruises when I come to a stop!

I was therefore very interested in their new Pro Sub 4 Back Protector which has been specifically designed to test at under 4kn when subjected to the standard CE test EN1621-2. It has already undergone independent testing by SATRA and it showed a mean test result of 3.38kn of transmitted energy, making it the first motorcycle back protector in the world to attain this level of performance.

Or, put in simple lay-mans terms, 4kn is the maximum amount of transmitted energy that should be transmitted to the human body if they are not to end up with severe back and rib trauma. So this new protector is at the top of its game for impact absorption without a doubt!

It is also capable of repeating the level of protection, so unlike some hard shell based protectors on the market, it does not to be ditched after doing its job, making it very cost effective for those involved in racing for instance.

It is constructed of specialised high-tech energy absorbing materials to reduce bulk and a combination of Nitrex technology and Multi layers has ensured it remains lightweight and flexible. The triangular Nitrex outer grid has been designed to allow vent holes at the base for breathability and less weight and its design gives more kidney protection than most.

It comes with a removable & washable outer cover to enable you to keep it clean and hygienic even after a hot days’ action. The straps and belt provide masses of adjustment to ensure it sits well on your body. Both points make it more comfortable to wear, always a consideration when choosing any product I would suggest.

In use I have found that like most of their products after the first five minutes it moulds itself to you once it absorbs some body heat and from then on you do not notice it is there. It does not restrict movement and is comfortable even on long rides.

However, due to the fact it is thicker than some other protectors, it does mean that with some of my more tight fitting clothing, (expanding body!) I have not been able to use it, so I would suggest wearing your regular riding kit when trying it on at the dealers.

If you cannot get it on they do a Sportlite protector so you can still enjoy the Forcefield level of protection, not mention some of their many other products!

After a couple of months all I can say is that I have found this to be the back protector of choice for most of my riding and a good investment. Available in Small, Medium, Large, X-Large it costs £119.99 and is available from your local dealer of direct from www.ForcefieldBodyArmour.com
