Venhill Tyre Pressure Gauge Review

Venhill VT32 Tyre Pressure GaugeGiven the speed and agility of most modern bikes daily, accurate tyre pressure checks are crucial for safety reasons, more than they have ever been. Not only do tyre pressures affect stability, they also affect fuel economy and tyre wear.

Unfortunately, ease of checking them never seems to rate highly on the bike designers list, so it is often difficult with normal pressure gauges which do not bend or adjust to tight situations and it ends up being neglected task.

Help is now at hand though thanks to Venhill – specialist manufacturers of high performance brake lines and control cables – who have introduced two Tyre Pressure Gauges to their range of motorcycle specific tools; one for regular applications and the other for low pressure tyres (e.g. trials and speedway).

Virtually identical in appearance and construction, the main difference being the operating range, they have been designed for motorcycles and are therefore a lot easier to use. I have been using the VT32 Gauge with the pressure range of 0-60Psi (0 to 4 Bar), for some time now and have found it excellent and easy to use on a variety of bikes and it must be said even cars!

It has a flexible stainless steel braided stem hose which makes accessing even the most awkward valves easier and the 90-degree, fully rotating chuck ensures a tight seal from any angle. The 2-inch dial gauge indicates in both Psi and Bar, both in small increments for an accurate reading.

It comes with an air-bleed button which makes it easy to be spot on each time, by slightly over inflating and then dropping the pressure to the exact figure required. The easy to read dial has a rubber sleeve around it to help protect against impacts, and comes with a tough nylon storage pouch, making it robust.

From a previous life I have a calibrated gauge and have found this new item to be accurate when checked against it.

As a policy, you should always use the same gauge each time for accuracy and this Venhill item is excellent thanks to its flexibility and ease of use making it ideal as your regular daily tyre gauge.

The VT32 Gauge is available at an RRP of £17.07, the low pressure VT37 is priced £19.08 (including VAT)
