Titch
Sub titled ‘The Founder’s Tale’ this is the long awaited autobiography of CE Allen BEM the founder of the Vintage Motorcycle Club. There is no dispute that this small diminutive man is personally responsible for the formation of one of the largest motorcycle clubs in the world, now with over 16,000 members worldwide.
The Club was founded after a meeting by Titch and thirty seven other like minded enthusiasts in 1946 and has grown from those small beginnings to what it is today. However, that is actually a small part of his life, one that has seen him compete at all levels of motorcycle sport, work in the motorcycle trade as well as pen more than a few words for may motorcycle publications over the years.
He was a friend to many of the greats in the trade and industry, not to mention the sport and has outlived most of them. Now well into his nineties his love of motorcycles is still as strong as ever, despite no longer being an active rider, but he is still actively involved with the VMCC.
This is a tale of a true two-wheeled enthusiast who has seen the best and in some cases the worst of motorcycling, but has never faltered in his passion for the motorcycle. This really is a must read, not only for the older rider, but for anybody who has a passion for two wheels and life in general. Money well spent, as is the time to read it!
Not surprisingly it is published by the VMCC from whom the book is available for the princely sum £19.99. ISBN 978 9553124 3 4
