2006 MCi Tours Ferry Guide
Â
All Information current for the 2006 Touring season
prepared by BMF Corporate member MCi Tours (0161 941
7149). For escorted tours to Race Meetings and European destinations
check out the MCi Tours
website! Also featured on the MCi Tours website are a range of self-guided
tours to destinations in France Spain and Germany – everything done for you, all
you have to do is turn up!
Fierce competition and the end of duty free has seen a big
shake up at the end of 2005. P&O have withdrawn services from all the western
approaches of the Channel. Sadly Hoverspeed have given up and have now ceased
trading altogether. End of an era. DFDS have withdrawn the popular route from
Harwich to Cuxhaven – if it’s Germany you want, you now need to go through
France or Holland – there is no longer a direct ferry route into Germany from
the UK.
New entrants Speed Ferries are cheap and operate just one
SeaCat from Dover to Boulogne (bit of a worry if it breaks down…) Two other new
operators have come in to take over on routes abandoned by P&O (Transmanche and
LD Lines) but they both use old boats that are a bit slow.
You can book on SeaFrance or DFDS using special rates for
BMF members negotiated by MCi Tours who have provided the following potted guide
to ferry routes from the UK into Europe.
If you want a cheap all inclusive self-guided tour check
out the Small & Rider Friendly programme on the MCi Tours website

One of the most important parts of
organizing a touring holiday is the cross
channel ferry crossing. Depending where your based in the UK there are various cross channel ferry options and cross channel ports to sail from. Your not
now only restricted to cross channel car ferries, today's motorcycle
tourer can now also choose from hoverspeed crossing, fast sea
catamaran services and the Euro-tunnel to cross
the channel. However the cost of getting you,
your bike and maybe pillion passenger across the
channel can be a significant part of your
motorcycle touring holiday cost! So whether you
want to cross the channel to Calais, Dunkirk,
Hoof of Holland, Cherbourg, Le Harve, St Malo,
Caen, Roscoff, Rotterdam or Zeebrugge choosing
a competitive cross channel ferry crossing or
cheap channel ferry crossing is important So
we've detailed below links to many of the
leading cross channel ferry companies, cross
channel ferry operators and cross channel
booking agents to help you secure a cheap ferry
crossing to Europe.
Alternatively you make prefer to travel by train and take the eurotunnel shuttle we included links below which will help you arrange a eurotunnel shuttle booking and search out a cheap eurotunnel ticket or eurotunnel fare!
